Emergency Preparedness Information

Being prepared for a natural disaster or other emergency situations can be the difference between life and death for both you and your family but also for those around you. By arming yourself with the proper training and knowledge our hope is that if anything were to ever happen our residents would be able to act accordingly to help save and preserve the lives of those in their communities.

Emergency Tips
Each home should have a smoke detector in each bedroom and fire extinguisher per floor.
Establish an out-of-state 24-hour telephone contact. Calls out of an area experiencing an emergency will not overload lines as much as calls coming in. All relatives/friends should be informed on procedures to call the phone contact.

You can make copies of the following items and send them to your out-of-state contact: marriage license, house mortgage, automobile ownership, wills, appraisals, drivers licenses, recreational vehicle ownership, insurance policies.

An Emergency Plan
Who is going to do what, when, where and how? The Family/Friend Emergency Plan is the most important item in your 72 hour kit. Your plan must be written, shared with your family and friends, practiced and revised frequently. (see 72 hour kits)
