The Benefits are... endless! The Orem Fitness Center was recently voted the #1 Community Center in Utah County by the Daily Herald Reader's Choice Awards. Built in 1979, the Fitness Center was created to provide Orem residents with a family oriented, recreational, sport, and fi tness facility. The benefits of the Fitness Center to the citizens of Orem are endless. The Orem Fitness Center attendance is almost half a million visitors each year. The lack of many violent crimes in Orem are due to positive and productive leisure alternatives. Orem has been selected as one of the most livable communities in the U.S. in part for its parks, open space and recreational opportunities.
The growth of recreation and fi tness in Orem over the past twenty years has brought about new programs and classes like: spinning, yoga, pilates, water aerobics, stationary cardiovascular equipment, weight training, personal training, fi tness and community safety classes. The benefi ts from these facilities and programs have touched all Orem residents in some way or another. The Fitness Center has provided a great place for year-round recreation for individuals, church and civic groups, physical rehabilitation services, after school programs for youth, and senior citizens.
Through the generous donation given to the Center by the Noorda family, the physical facilities have recently been expanded. The main south entry into the building is completely enclosed which will provide a protected entry. Along this covered corridor electronic kiosks are located which will enable patrons to sit at computers and register for classes and programs and avoid the long lines previously associated with registration. The lower and upper planter areas just to the east of the entry have been transformed into exercise areas equipped with cardio and other exercise equipment. The south upstairs patio area is now enclosed to house a meeting/conference room, some offi ce space and additional storage. Additionally, a co-ed steam room has been added. These exciting changes will provide a better level of service to the patrons. To our valued customers, we welcome you back to the new and improved Orem Fitness Center.
