You will start by down loading a PDF version of the application by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page. Or, you may come to our office located at 95 East Center Street, Orem, Utah, Room 200, to obtain and complete an application.

Beer License Fees

Fees

City Fees are as follows:

  • Class A Beer License, ($600)
  • Local License Application Fee, First time application fee ($225)

All fees are pro-rated for the calendar year (July-June) so the exact amount you pay for your license is determined by the date of your application.

The actual certificate for your business will be issued after fees are paid and all necessary paperwork have been received, in approximately one week.

What Is The Purpose of a Beer License?

The purpose of a Beer License in the City of Orem is to regulate the sales of alcoholic beverages within the corporate limit of the City.

1. To determine if business are operating within applicable laws and ordinances.
2. To maintain a safe environment for the general public.
3. To enforce legal consumption of alcoholic beverages.
4. To maintain a list of currently licensed businesses for public access.

How Long Is An Orem Beer License Valid?

A City of Orem Beer License is valid for one calendar year (July-June). All City of Orem alcohol licenses expire on June 30. A renewal form will be sent to you in April.

When Will I Need To Obtain A New Orem Beer License?

If your business moves from one location to another within the City of Orem, or if your business changes ownership it will be necessary to complete a new application. Licenses are non-transferable.

What Happens If My Business Moves Out of Orem or Closes?

If your business moves out of Orem or you close your business, please notify the City of Orem, Department of Public Safety, Attn: Alcohol Licensing, 95 East Center Street, Orem UT 84057, phone 801-229-7062 or fax 801-229- 7300, as you may qualify for a partial refund of the license.

How Do I Obtain an Orem City Alcohol License?

You will start by registering your business with the State of Utah, Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. This can be done at their web site: http://abc.utah.gov/license/application.html or by contacting them at 1625 South 900 West, Salt Lake City, Utah, or phone 801-977- 6800.

Click on "ApplicationForm-Restaurant-FullService" icon. This site will bring up the Restaurant Liquor License application checklist, which will instruct you on the twelve (12) items necessary to begin your application with the State of Utah. Please note that the State application requires a local consent from the City of Orem, which you must bring in for signature by the Director of Public Safety. The State of Utah will also require you to complete a background check; the City of Orem application will also require this, so please keep a copy for your records.

Fees

Once you have been granted your State Alcohol License, you must bring in or send a copy with your application for the City of Orem License so that we may determine which class you have been granted by the State.
